The Yankunytjatjara Native Title Aboriginal Corporation administers land on behalf of the Yankunytjatjara and Antakirinja people of the Western Desert. Their native title over this land was recognised by the Yankunytjatjara/Antakirinja native title determination 2006.

This determination arose from a native title claim made by 19 families (approximately 1300 individuals) in 1997. This claim was negotiated between the State of South Australia and several local pastoralists over ten years. All parties agreed to recognise the claimants’ non-exclusive native title rights to use and enjoy the land and waters in the determination area, as well as the right to access and maintain places of significance under traditional law. This agreement became the first consent determination in South Australia.

The township of Marla was excluded from the determination of native title in that area and has been settled through an Indigenous Land Use Agreement.
