Coffee meet-ups invigorate Indigenous small businesses as many hit hurdles to success

News / Event start date

A movement where Indigenous small business owners meet over coffee is gaining momentum across Australia as many continue to have it tougher than their non-Indigenous counterparts. It is called Black Coffee and allows Indigenous and non-Indigenous professionals to informally network at local cafes once a month, where they discuss their struggles, triumphs and ideas. About 40 people come and go, and as many business cards fly around at the meet-up in Townsville, where it began about two years ago.
